Why Did We Develop Amore?

The concept behind Amore

The concept behind our Amore blend is to embody the complexity of feelings and emotions we find entering into and sustaining romance.  The Amore blend attempts to express in the language of coffee, the thrilling risks, and soothing comforts we find in holding someone close to our heart.

Roasted coffees are blended for a variety of reasons.  Complimentary coffees may be blended to present a balanced cup.  Dark coffees may be added to lighter roasts to expand the range of available flavors.  Blends may be tailored for particular brewing methods or created to mark a specific season or occasion.

All Fonté blends begin as concepts, a prescribed series of flavors crossing the palate in a specific sequence.  Once the concept is established, the next step is identifying the specific coffees necessary for achieving that sequence.  Once the blend constituents are determined, small-batch versions of the blend provide an opportunity to confirm the blend’s profile in a variety of brewing methods.  From there, the blend is ready to be presented.

The Embodiment of Flavor and Origins

Our Amore blend is an example of an occasion blend and in this case, a blend celebrating St. Valentine’s Day.  Fonté has sought to provide individual coffees that could bring elements of sweetness and piquancy; volatility and duration; as well as gentleness and strength.

Our master roaster calls on his experience and familiarity with coffees from origins as diverse as “Guatemala” and “Myanmar”.  The Amore Blend was built around a framework of Estate Kenya AA whichdisplays in full measure, the tart brightness unique to the region.  Superb beans from Sul de Minas in Brazil bring a smooth creaminess.  Bright, vivid Guatemala from Finca el Tambor and Highland Grown New Guinea add intensity, and a bit of unpredictability.  This blend contributes a variety of captivating qualities ranging from honeyed grapefruit flavors to notes of roasted chestnut.

Language of the Heart

While the exact origins and identity of St. Valentine are unknown, today his name inspires thoughts of the language of the heart. And whether those thoughts take the form of appreciating a decades-long relationship or the excitement of a blind leap into a new romance, we would like to share that celebration in the language of coffee.

Amore Blend is available for a short time each year, be sure to share this experience with someone close to your heart
