Kenyan coffees are appreciated for their bright, clean qualities. Many feature a signature prominence of acidity. This classic style Kenya, produced by several small farms surrounding the Kagumoini washing station in the Nyeri region, came through the Kenya auction system as a discrete small lot that we were able to secure. Many of the contributing farms are at altitudes above 5,000 feet, which lengthens the fruit’s maturation time and allows for an extended development of flavors. Careful fermentation and washing stages are followed by precise drying on raised beds. The coffee comes to us in vacuum sealed bags, ensuring stable, consistent quality in the green.

Vivid in the cup, our perfectly balanced Kenya Kagumoini features big fruity acidity, marked by deep cherry notes and a long finish of currants and chocolate topped by a bit of ruby grapefruit. Excellent as French Press.

Tasting notes: fruity acidity, cherry and black currant, chocolate and grapefruit finish.

    Balanced & Delicious

Fonté does a fantastic job roasting to bring out the best flavor in each individual bean or blend—this Kenya is well-balanced, subtly fruity, and a delicious mouthfeel. I recommend it as a French Press!

    Kenyan - City Roast

    Flavor

    Aroma

Fonte's roast choice for this Kenyan coffee is not a light or medium roast, but rather a city high or full city roast. It's a full-bodied cup of coffee, where as the Kenyan coffee (perhaps not this region) I've purchased in the past have been roasted on the scale of light or medium. The lighter roasted beans usually reveal a pronounced floral bouquet with a distinct perfume that is almost sweet to the taste. Maybe this lot doesn't produce a distinct flavor profile so a longer roast was prescribed. As a result, the brightness and acidity is most certainly muted in favor of body and the flavors (dark chocolate) of a deeper roast.

    Medium-bodied, Complex and Lovely

    Flavor

    Aroma

This coffee evolves as you sip it. Initially, smooth with some of the classic Kenya AA elegance. Midway through, hints of carmel and ends with full body finish. Not as silky smooth as other Kenya coffee but I like how it evolves. Aroma is lovely.

    Highly recommended...
