Brasil Sul de Minas
Our latest Special Selection offering was brought to our attention by our friend Sergio Dias of Cannan Estate Coffee. In addition to producing some of the tastiest coffee from Brasil Sergio imports a handful of extremely small, special lots of coffee produced by his neighbors, and our new Brasil is one of these.
The story: Our Brasil Sul de Minas was grown on the farm of Flavio Roberto Caravalho Ferraz, located close to the town of Dom Vicoso in Southern Minas Gerias state. The farm has earned many awards over the years in regional and international competitions, including a 1st place finish in last year’s 14th annual Concurso Estadual de Qualidades dos Cafés de Minas Gerais.
This is a natural process coffee of the Yellow Bourbon variety that has been grown with extreme attention to quality. As a result, it expresses a high degree of the characteristics that define fine Brasilian coffees. Only 14 bags of this coffee were produced in 2017, and we’re pleased to offer it on a limited basis.
In the cup look for an initial, intense sweetness transitioning into luxurious milk chocolate notes over a creamy, textured mouthfeel. Mandarin tinged citrus and delicate vanilla flower aromas dissolve into a caramel finish that ends where we began, dominated by sweetness and milk chocolate. One of the few single origins we recommend as an espresso!
